Is it OK to Have a Cheat Day When Dieting?
Aaaah, the ever popular “cheat day.”
The day that you choose to throw out the weekly diet and eat whatever you want. How does it effect your weight loss and is it ok to have one? The answer really depends on the individual.
You need to burn whatever you take in…plain and simple. So if you decide that on your cheat day you want to eat three Pizzas and two Hot Fudge Sundaes, you will have to burn them off one way or another.
With that said, a “cheat day” can be one of your biggest advantages (especially when starting a new diet regime).
We all need to be rewarded. The idea of NEVER having something good (or bad depending on how you look at it) can be very depressing.
So, if you need a “win,” go for it. Just follow these three cheating rules…
1. Ask yourself if it is worth it. You will, one way or another, have to burn it off.
2. Pick a smaller portion. Typically if you eat 1/3 of what you planned you will be just as satisfied.
3. Go for a cheat “meal,” not an entire day.
